Centralia Tree Relocates Without City Approval
LEWIS COUNTY — Strong winds swept through Lewis County Friday, knocking down trees, disrupting power and creating cleanup work across the region.
One tree came down near the Timberland Regional Library in Centralia, apparently completing a major relocation without submitting plans to the city.
Residents throughout the county spent much of Friday staring through windows and periodically announcing, “She’s really blowing out there,” before stepping outside every 20 minutes to see if anything new had fallen over.
By evening, thousands across Western Washington had lost power, while Lewis County residents began the traditional storm cleanup process of cutting up whatever landed in the yard and deciding whether any of it was worth keeping for firewood.
