Dad Surprised To Learn All His Clothes Are Shrinking After Picking Up New Homebrew Hobby

CHEHALIS, WA — A local dad who recently got into homebrewing has reportedly assured his family that the sudden shrinking of every shirt, pair of jeans, hoodie, and jacket in the house has absolutely nothing to do with the five-gallon batches of beer now fermenting in the garage.

The man made the announcement Monday evening while attempting to sit down in a kitchen chair without making eye contact with the button on his jeans, which witnesses say appeared to be under “county-wide emergency pressure.”

“I know what everyone is thinking, but this is clearly a laundry issue,” he explained, holding a pint of his latest brown ale for what he called “quality control purposes.” “A lot of people don’t realize dryers can become more aggressive over time. That’s just science.”

Family members say the problem began shortly after he purchased a starter brewing kit, then immediately expanded into a full operation involving buckets, hoses, glass jugs, a giant kettle, three notebooks, and a corner of the garage no one is allowed to touch anymore. Since then, his shirts have reportedly become tighter, his belt has moved into “uncharted territory,” and his favorite flannel now fits like something purchased from the junior section at Sunbirds.

Despite the timing, the dad insists there is no connection between the shrinking clothes and the nightly sampling of his own product.

“You can’t just brew beer and not test it,” he said. “One glass tells you the color. The second tells you the body. The third tells you if you should have a fourth. That’s part of the process.”

At one point, he attempted to prove his theory by putting on a hoodie from last winter, only to become trapped halfway through and ask whether anyone had “noticed how much tighter cotton has gotten lately.”

Experts in the home said the simplest explanation may be that the clothes are not shrinking at all, but the dad dismissed the claim as “anti-brewing propaganda” pushed by people who don’t understand craftsmanship.

At press time, he was seen ordering another fermenter, a new grain mill, and several shirts one size larger “just in case the dryer keeps acting up.”
