New Lewis County Budget Analyst Says “You Should’ve Checked Trivago”

Lewis County officials introduced their new budget analyst this week, and residents immediately noticed he had a confident smile, a suspiciously familiar delivery, and the kind of teeth that could probably find savings in the public works budget by sheer reflection alone.

After reviewing several county spending reports, the analyst leaned into the microphone and offered his first official recommendation: “You should’ve checked Trivago.” He then explained that many of the county’s expenses could have been reduced by simply comparing prices before approving purchases, hiring consultants, ordering office equipment, or agreeing to anything described as a “strategic community investment.”

County staff were reportedly caught off guard when the analyst found three unused software subscriptions, a copier lease old enough to vote, and a supply closet full of promotional stress balls purchased during what one employee described as “a very ambitious public outreach phase.”

By the end of the meeting, commissioners were said to be considering a new policy requiring every purchase over $50 to be checked against three online prices, one coupon code, and at least one guy in Chehalis who “knows where to get it cheaper.”
