Sanitation Efforts Under Way After Centralia Pride Event
CENTRALIA, WA — City crews reportedly gave George Washington Park a full cleanup following Saturday’s Pride event after officials discovered glitter, rainbow decorations, and enough discarded signs to keep a small HR department busy for weeks.
The event drew a crowd for music, vendors, and celebration, while the follow-up cleanup focused mostly on removing streamers, confetti, and whatever substance glitter turns into once it hits wet grass.
Officials said the park was returned to normal by Sunday morning, with the sidewalks cleared, trash removed, and only a few stubborn rainbow flakes still clinging to the pavement.
Residents were assured the park is once again safe for regular Centralia activities, including walking dogs, avoiding eye contact, and pretending not to notice the smell near the trash cans.
