Lewis County Football Returns, Apparently With a Grudge

Football | September 5, 2026

LEWIS COUNTY, WA — High school football returned Friday night, and several Lewis County teams apparently spent the offseason preparing for something considerably more serious than a recreational sporting event.

Napavine 61, Toutle Lake 0 — Napavine opened the season by politely reminding everyone that the scoreboard can, in fact, display numbers higher than 50.

Morton 70, Oakville 6 — Morton hung 70 on Oakville, which is less of a football score and more of a cry for someone to institute a mercy rule.

Onalaska 56, Seton Catholic 20 — The Loggers scored 56 and immediately began checking whether points left over from Week 1 can be carried into Week 2.

W.F. West 42, Peninsula 21 — The Bearcats doubled up Peninsula, giving Chehalis residents approximately seven days to calmly explain why this is definitely their year.

Centralia 42, South Whidbey 0 — Centralia opened with a shutout, forcing local historians to begin researching whether city residents are legally permitted to feel this optimistic.

Bellevue Christian 40, Mossyrock 13 — Mossyrock had a tougher opening night, but fortunately the season is young and nobody has started demanding coaching changes on Facebook yet. Probably.

Week 1 is officially underway. Overreactions may now begin.
